Job Title: Director of Integrated Communications and Marketing. Reports to: Chief Strategy Officer. Primary Supervision: Contractors. Classification: Full Time/Salaried. Position Summary: Leads the development and execution of comprehensive communications, marketing, and brand strategies to advance organizational visibility, engagement, and impact. Oversees strategic communications, media relations, storytelling, digital engagement, and public-facing messaging to strengthen relationships with donors, community partners, school districts, policymakers, volunteers, and families. Provides leadership for internal communications initiatives, vendor and contractor management, budget oversight, and uses analytics and performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness and inform future communications strategies. Qualifications: 5–7 years of work or educational experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or related field preferred; nonprofit/advocacy/policy/public affairs communications experience strongly preferred; demonstrated success developing integrated communications and marketing strategies; strong writing, editing, public speaking, and storytelling skills; media relations and spokesperson experience; strong project management and organizational skills; experience with digital marketing, website management, social media strategy, and content development; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Google Suite; strong analytical skills using KPIs and performance metrics; supervisory and vendor management experience preferred; ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Essential Functions: Develop and execute integrated communications and marketing plans for diverse audiences; lead campaigns that strengthen community engagement and elevate CIS of Michigan’s visibility; ensure messaging consistency with CIS National Office; maintain brand identity across platforms; train staff as brand ambassadors; manage vendors and contractors; oversee budgets and purchasing; lead internal communications; use analytics (website traffic, engagement, SEO, donor conversion, media reach) to evaluate effectiveness; build and maintain media relationships; draft press materials; coordinate interviews; identify earned media opportunities; lead ethical storytelling; ensure policies uphold confidentiality, dignity, equity, and student voice; oversee development and distribution of print and digital collateral (annual reports, newsletters, brochures, campaigns, social content, videos, legislative briefings, website content, fund development materials). Working Conditions: Primarily a remote work environment with regular virtual collaboration; statewide travel required to support partnerships, events, and initiatives; consistent and reliable attendance.
