Communities In Schools of Central Texas is seeking a Senior Director of Access to College and Transition Support to launch and implement the Access to College and Transition Support (ACTS) Program at Austin Community College (ACC). The Sr. Director leads in support of the Communities In School of Central Texas’s (CISCT) mission to prepare students for life-long success. This brings together personnel and resources for collaborative programming to provide a variety of supports for students furthering their education at ACC after they graduate high school.
This is an exciting time to join Communities In Schools. We moved into our new 30,000 sq ft headquarters, funded through contributions.

What we offer:
CIS offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The starting salary range for this position is $5,850/mo. Salaries are determined by qualifications and relevant experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and midpoint depending on experience and in alignment with internal equity.

What you’ll bring:
- 10+ years of leadership experience in education-focused settings, including nonprofits, community-based organizations, or higher education institutions
- Proven expertise in postsecondary advising for first-generation and underrepresented students, including academic advising, financial aid, and fostering a sense of belonging on campus
- Strong understanding of best practices in college enrollment, retention, and success within higher education
- Demonstrated ability to strategize, design, implement, and evaluate programs to drive impact and improve postsecondary outcomes
- Skilled in strategic planning with schools, colleges, and communities to close equity gaps and achieve measurable improvements
- Experience building and maintaining campus partnerships and collaborating across diverse teams
- Proven track record of managing, mentoring, and inspiring teams to achieve program objectives
- Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, educational leadership, business administration, or management, preferred
- Highly self-motivated and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on strength-based leadership, preferred
- Experience collaborating with community agencies
- Experience managing individuals or teams
- Demonstrated English/Spanish speaking skills, preferred
- Current CPR Certification, preferred
What you’ll do:
- Oversee the onboarding, training, and supervision of the Director of ACTS and three (3) ACTS Program Managers and coordinate their professional development
- Set the strategic vision for the Access to College and Transition Support Team and oversee program development for college enrollment, advisement, retention, and graduation outcomes and lead collaborative efforts in the design and strategy to meet those outcomes
- Partner with the CISCT College, Career and Military Readiness Team and campus staff to integrate college and career readiness into current programs and build capacity for student success
- Collaborate with the CISCT College, Career and Military Team to enhance high school student experiences who are interested in post-secondary degree attainment and track milestones for college readiness through FASFA events, college tours and fairs
- Build strategic relationships with ACC to enhance partnerships and program impact
- Support community outreach efforts, including engaging partners and inspiring students and families
- Analyze student enrollment, retention, and completion data to inform program adjustments and improve program effectiveness in postsecondary enrollment and collaborate with the CISCT’s Performances Measures and Data Team as needed
- Provide data and insights to inform actions and report on program progress, with an emphasis on equity
- Work with partners to monitor progress, troubleshoot challenges, and lead projects to successful outcomes
- The Sr. Director researches trends in college and career readiness and provide relevant staff trainings based on those trends/findings/discoveries. Pursue professional development in college and career readiness and research trends in college access and lead staff trainings accordingly
- Prepare and present program reports for internal and external use
- Foster an inclusive, positive team culture aligned with CISCT’s mission and values
- Carry out other relevant job duties to advance student success and the organization’s mission
Reporting Structure: This position is supervised by the Regional Director of Programs and will have supervisory responsibilities and may also supervise AmeriCorps members, repositioned staff, interns, and/or volunteers.
Work Location: This position is based out of CISCT’s St. Elmo administrative office in Austin, Texas. Occasional travel between campuses, events, and the administrative office, as necessary.
