Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Supervises: May supervise volunteers, work-study students, interns, or AmeriCorps members as appropriate.

Starting Salary Range: $4,000.00-$4,208.33/month

Position Summary

The Accountant I assists in managing the financial operations of the organization. The Accountant I will possess a successful Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable background to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

The Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager and Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and will report directly to the CFO.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the team with billing, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition responsibilities.

  • Lead and execute accounting operations including daily cash management, accurate application of receipts, reconciliation of payments and monitoring of aged accounts receivable to reduce outstanding balances.

  • Generate invoices based on contract terms, respond to billing inquiries, and ensure accuracy.

  • Monitor collections: follow up on outstanding receivables and work with internal teams to resolve payment delays.

  • Complete bank account reconciliations and create related journal entries.

  • Manage incoming vendor bills: entering data into the accounting system, ensure proper approvals, and schedule timely payments.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or four (4) years of related experience in a similar position, is preferred.

  • Minimum (1) year of verifiable work experience as an accountant

  • Experience working in a non-profit setting, preferred.
