Starting Salary: $125,000-$150,000 yearly (Salary based on relevant experience)

The Executive Advisor and Strategic Initiatives Director must see the big picture while managing the details. The person anticipates needs, pivots changing priorities, and is ready to roll up their sleeves to get things done. They will support the CEO in driving bold ideas, major initiatives, strategic priorities, and day to day operations. They will help shape agendas, steward Board of Director relationships, coordinate complex projects, and strengthen internal and external connections.

What You’ll Do

Executive Leadership Support

  • Work side by side with the CEO to prioritize work and keep projects moving.

  • Design agendas, talking points, internal messages, and presentations.

  • Prepare the CEO for high stakes meetings and strategic conversations.

  • Manage time sensitive tasks and shifting priorities with confidence.

Board and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a primary contact for the Board of Directors

  • Prepare all Board materials and coordinate committee work.

  • Support CEO led engagement with district leaders and community partners.

Strategic Projects and Operations

  • Lead cross organizational projects tied to strategic priorities.

  • Build systems to track progress and improve operations.

  • Bring ideas, identify opportunities, and move work from vision to action.

  • Problem solve quickly and keep multiple priorities organized.

Relationship Building

  • Build strong relationships with staff, partners, and community leaders.

  • Represent the CEO in meetings as needed.

  • Help create alignment and communication across teams.

  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with exceptional judgement.

Executive Communication, Presentations, and Data Visualization

  • Create high quality presentations, decks, reports, and written materials that communicate complex information to internal and external audiences.

  • Translate data into visuals, dashboards, and graphics that support decision making and storytelling.

  • Prepare Board of Directors presentations, strategic plan updates, leadership meeting materials, and CEO level reports.

  • Draft talking points, briefing documents, scripts, and executive messages for the CEO.

  • Build templates, systems, and processes that improve how information is shared across the agency.

  • Manage the design and preparation of materials for high stakes meetings with funders, district leaders, and community partners.

  • Ensure all executive documents reflect accuracy, clarity, professionalism, and CIS brand voice.

Typical Tasks

  • Leading the development and execution of the Yearly Operations Plan and tracking progress across the agency.

  • Supporting the CEO in setting strategic agency goals and monitoring key performance indicators.

  • Leading the organization wide Reaccreditation standards process to ensure full compliance.

  • Crafting high quality presentations, documents, and written materials for the CEO that communicate complex ideas with clarity.

  • Designing data visualization, dashboards, and slides that support executive storytelling and decision making.

  • Managing the full strategic plan process, including timelines, engagement, deliverables, and follow up.

  • Preparing Board of Directors learning topics, presentations, and meeting packets.

  • Presenting on behalf of the CEO in meetings with internal teams, community partners, and district leaders.

  • Preparing the CEO for high stakes meetings through briefing documents, research, and talking points.

  • Managing the CEO’s calendar, priorities, expenses, and travel in a fast paced environment.

  • Coordinating cross team projects while ensuring alignment and accountability among senior leaders.

  • Building systems and processes that streamline executive operations and improve efficiency.

  • Leading preparation for leadership retreats, Board of Director retreats, and strategic planning sessions.

  • Supporting internal communications and helping ensure messages from the CEO are clear, timely, and consistent.

  • Handling sensitive correspondence and confidential information with professionalism.

  • Coordinating with community partners, funders, and agencies on behalf of the CEO.

  • Identifying operational challenges and proposing solutions that move forward quickly.

  • Monitoring deadlines, elevating issues that need CEO attention while keeping key projects on track.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master's Degree or Higher Preferred

  • Strong experience in educational leadership, including administration or central office level.

  • Excellent communication and human relations skills.

  • Flexible and able to multi-task with demonstrated ability to work within an ambiguous, fast- moving environment while also driving toward clarity and solutions.

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems

  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive or confidential information with discretion

  • Ability to work creatively within a budget and use innovation to find ways of more effectively managing resources

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and virtual communication tools including MS Teams and Zoom

  • Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated ability to persuasively promote ideas to a variety of stakeholders
