Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer

Supervises: Will supervise a team of Database Success Specialists and a Database Trainer. May supervise temporary staff, AmeriCorps members, interns, work study students, and/or volunteers.

Starting salary range based on qualifications and experience: $6,666.67 / month - $6,833.34 / month

Position Summary

The Sr. Director of Database Management is responsible for directly managing the Performance Measures and Data Department and leading cross-departmental collaboration, administration processes, and implementation strategy for CIS’s central database, built on Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP). The Sr. Director will ensure data management policies and procedures align with requirements and best practices, maintain access, security, and integrity controls, as well as manage database buildout and feature requests, including scheduling new features and building reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools. The Sr. Director will manage, implement, and monitor fidelity to policies, procedures, and standards relating to data quality and CIS accreditation standards. Due to programming requirements, this position is not eligible for the agency summer break.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the Performance Measures and Data (PMD) Department by developing and meeting performance measures through supervision, strategic leadership and operationalizing organizational systems
  • Review and identify opportunities for database simplification, standardization and automation as well as improve efficiency by eliminating non-value-added work.
  • Create, implement and enforce policies for effective data management and quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data
  • Create, implement, and enforce efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects
  • Collaborate to develop tools and processes that execute on CIS’ impact framework within each program area, specifically for both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
  • Provide ongoing support to PMD staff regarding data quality monitoring, annual data audits, end-user ticket support, and data migration between the local CIS system and the state-mandated TEA database, CIS-NAV
  • Build and manage reports, dashboards, and automations using Flow Builder
  • Oversee public grant reporting processes, including funder data reports and periodic campus-level reporting
  • Perform database maintenance tasks including diagnostics, data quality audits, record deduplication, and error-tracing
  • Work closely with the Salesforce Administrator to develop strategic plans for feature implementation and provide holistic system support
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications
  • Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses
  • Guarantee adherence to legal and organizational regulations
  • Participate in the CIS team approach to service delivery and problem-solving
  • Promote and maintain agency culture, standards, and systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer or Chief Executive Officer

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information science/management, or
    related field
  • Salesforce Administrator certification and a minimum of two (2) years of direct administration experience with Salesforce, including experience building custom objects and
  • relationships, formula fields, automations using Flow Builder, Lightning Page Layouts, and other content of intermediate complexity Experience with NPSP and Program
  • Management Module (PMM) is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of team management, including a strong background in staff supervision and team building
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions, including user license
  • provisioning, entity relationship mapping, summary functions and formulas, building reports and dashboards, and preparing data for a non-technical audience
  • Experience developing policies and procedures required for monitoring, auditing, performance and security
  • Ability to critically evaluate and prioritize information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile
    conflicts and translate complex problems clearly in nontechnical terms
  • Demonstrated ability to organize workload in a busy environment and able to work well under pressure
    while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • A creative problem-solver, strategic and analytical thinker, demonstrated initiative
  • Ability to build and maintain positive and productive relationships, effectively collaborate with team members and other CIS staff and community partners
  • Evidence of knowledge of all aspects of Microsoft Office products, including Excel spreadsheets, Word,
  • PowerPoint, graphing, and charting
  • Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills with a keen ability to synthesize and present complex data in a simple, compelling, and meaningful way
  • Non-profit or social service sector experience preferred
