Position Summary

Communities In Schools of Central Texas is hiring a Senior Director of Human Resources to join our HR leadership team, reporting to the Chief Operations Officer. In this crucial role, you will support the COO in driving strategic vision, initiatives, and objectives across various areas, including talent management, engagement, learning and development, recruiting, performance management, communications, and culture and leadership development.

As the Senior Director of Human Resources, you will lead, coordinate, and execute all HR department projects and processes for the organization. Working directly with the COO, you will handle routine HR functions such as investigations, salary administration, benefits, leave administration, performance appraisal, separations, professional development training, and enforcement of company policies. Additionally, you will play a key role in maintaining positive employee relations, ensuring staff satisfaction, and fostering a positive work environment.

Furthermore, as part of your responsibilities, you will take ownership of organization-wide training systems. This involves initiating and coordinating training programs to equip employees with the necessary knowledge and skills for success in their roles. You will collaborate with internal leaders and external partners to assess training needs, develop curriculum, facilitate sessions, create resource materials, and evaluate the effectiveness of learning and professional development initiatives.

This position is not eligible for the summer break.

What You’ll Do

General Human Resource Management

  • Develop and execute human resources plan aligned with CIS core values and strategic plan.
  • Identify agency needs and align processes, including recruitment, onboarding, development, training, evaluation, and retention.
  • Conduct HR training needs assessments and implement programs, including leadership pathways training.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Direct administration of compensation program, including job descriptions and salary surveys.
  • Develop and monitor procedures for salary administration and new hire placement.
  • Oversee leave, health insurance, employee benefits, workers’ compensation, and unemployment compensation programs.

Employee Relations

  • Proactively address employee issues, collaborate with leadership for effective communication.
  • Administer employee grievance procedure and handle personnel problems and policy issues.
  • Conduct annual research on employee satisfaction, morale, and communication.

Training Facilitation

  • Design and deliver diversity, equity, and inclusion sessions and professional development programs.
  • Oversee Auzmor Learning Management System (LMS) & LinkedIn Learning system course administration.
  • Evaluate progress and impact of learning and professional development activities.

Other

  • Prepare and deliver presentations on HR and management issues.
  • Stay informed about HR best practices and changes in non-profit and educational settings.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and safety protocols.


What You Bring

  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management
  • 2 years of experience at the director level preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or equivalent required
  • PHR or SHRM certificate preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Selection, training, and supervision of personnel
  • Wage and salary, benefits, and performance appraisal administration
  • General and employment law, hearing procedures
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures
  • Proficient in software for spreadsheets, data analysis, and word processing (e.g., PayScale, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Budget and personnel management skills
  • Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective public speaking abilities
